Machine learning on Encrypted Medical Data – Homomorphic Encryption

· Trained a Deep Neural Network on stored encrypted data utilising homomorphic encryption libraries with Python as part of my Honours project.

· Explored possibilities of using homomorphic encryption to perform machine learning on sensitive data while preserving privacy.

· Conducted thorough analysis and evaluation, including security analysis, feasibility, effectiveness and comparison with existing approaches.

The report is very well written, with a clear structure and adequate content. The topic is very interesting and challenging, and the student worked very hard to complete it. The results are very promising, and I think the thesis can be published in a good journal paper if the student can polish the writing and add more technical analysis and results. Some parts of the thesis can be improved to make it clearer (e.g., the proposed learning model). Overall, the report is excellent, and I am happy with the student’s progress.

The student’s presentation is very good. Well organized with clear content presented. Additionally, the student did a great job of explaining the concept and motivation of homomorphic encryption and how it can enable privacy-preserving machine learning on sensitive medical data. Some interesting results are also presented. Just a minor comment: slides should have numbers.

Home Lab - Malware Analysis & Phishing Detection - WIP

Designed a home lab to simulate real-world security scenarios, sharpening skills in threat detection, incident response, and network security.

· Configured FortiGate firewalls in High Availability mode with a DMZ network to secure and segment traffic, IP-Sec Tunnelling, Forti-VPN, Forti-Analyzer and Forti-Manager, mirroring enterprise on-prem and cloud setups.

· Deployed SNORT (NIDS) to spot network scans and anomalies, leveraging analytical skills from my Honours project and SC-200 certification.

· Engineered Splunk for centralised monitoring, creating alerting rules and dashboards that parallel Microsoft Sentinel’s capabilities for incident triage.

· Engaged with GNU Linux VMs with tools like Snort and Volatility in a DMZ to simulate malware and phishing incidents, testing response workflows.

· Configured Proxmox to manage virtual environments, including an RHEL server for RHCSA study, showing adaptability across systems.
